Odie possess a remarkable level of thinking ability and problem solving skills. His temperament is described as confident and courageous yet approachable, not hostile, nor is he timid or nervous. His strength of mind and level of discipline help him to maintain control even under pressure. He is mentally stable and loyal to his handler and family. He can be a serious dog when called for, otherwise, he is a calm and composed member of the family.
Physically he is robust, strong and agile with great bone and muscle structure.
